Eleanor R. Thorpe, 91, of Middletown and formerly of Cumberland, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 28, 2023. She was the wife of the late James Thorpe. Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Katherine (Reardon) Molloy.

Ellie was married to the love of her life for 57 years. She was a devoted wife, amazing mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a Eucharistic minister at St. Lucy's Church, volunteered for Meals on Wheels in the Blackstone Valley area with her husband, and Ronald McDonald House in Providence. Any day spent with her husband was a good day. They enjoyed long beach days with family, traveling with friends, playing bridge, reading, and golf. She was especially proud of getting a hole in one at Blue Rock Golf Course. She was a lifelong fan of the New England Patriots and could always be heard cheering them on. She was loved by all who knew her.

She is survived by her children, Jeffrey Thorpe and Sue Maura Garvey (Brian). She also leaves ten grandchildren, Alison Stillwell, Abbie James, Corey, Austin, and Michael Murnighan, Karissa Johnson, James and Katie Thorpe, and Eimile and Keegan Garvey, as well as eight great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Sallyanne James, Christine Murnighan, and Jay Thorpe. She was also the sister of the late Edward Molloy and Barbara Duffy.
