Eleanor Soucy Haughton, 96 of Cumberland, RI passed away peacefully in her home, in the presence of beloved family members on Friday, March 14, 2025. She was the adoring wife of Donald Haughton and the wife of the late Gerard Soucy. Born in Providence, RI. to the late Eugene and Ascenzia (Marzilli) Donais.
Eleanor entered the world with a vivacity, creativity and magnetism that only seemed to grow in the subsequent nine decades of her life. Her strong faith gave her great hope. It was with this zeal and spirit of curiosity that Eleanor took to investigating the Bible which she fondly referred to as the Lord's love letter to his children. She shared this great love both with her words, her faith and in action.
Eleanor was a talented jewelry designer. Earlier in her life, she was the owner and manager of E&A, a family jewelry business in Providence, RI. She later extended her entrepreneurial journey by establishing and managing "GELDCO" jewelry alongside her family. This venture included the rehabilitation of the former Woonsocket police station, which was transformed into a jewelry manufacturing facility. The refurbished space not only housed the jewelry business but also became the home for other family enterprises, including the GELDCO GEM TOT's Clothing Store. She also earned her nursing degree and worked as a neonatal nurse at the Providence Lying-In Hospital.
Her greatest devotion, however, was to her four children who she loved boundlessly: Carol Mooney (late husband Thomas), Debra Ghauri (husband Mohammed), Gerard Soucy (wife Jane), Louis Soucy (wife Christine), and her grandson who she raised from an infant, Alexander Soucy (wife Holland). Eleanor was the younger sister to the late Victoria Iadevaia. The depth of her love extended beyond measure to include her eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, who were touched by her enduring affection.
