Eileen A. King, 99, a longtime resident of Pawtucket, as well as a summer resident of Matunuck, passed away on February 29, 2024 at the Stillwater Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Greenville, Rhode Island. Born in Central Falls on December 30, 1924, she was the daughter of the late John and Bridget (Skenyon) McLoughlin. She is survived by her husband of 74 years, Theodore (Ted) King (retired Chief, Pawtucket Police Department) and her six children, Stephen (Helen) of North Kingstown, Susan of North Kingstown, Nancy of Glen Mills, Pennsylvania, Paul (Roberta) of Seekonk, John (Kerry) of Smithfield, and Paula Martins (Arthur) of Smithfield. She also is survived by her 13 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Margaret Philbin and Sister Mary Joan McLoughlin, PBVM and her brothers, John, Austin, Edward F. and Raymond McLoughlin.
Eileen graduated from the former Sacred Heart Academy in Pawtucket and Johnson and Wales Business School. She worked as the administrative assistant to the president of a manufacturing company before starting a family and staying home to raise her children. She was an active member of St. Edward's Church and volunteered at St. Edward's School, which became Woodlawn Catholic Regional School before it closed. In 2006, upon retiring as librarian from Woodlawn Catholic Regional School, she was recognized for 36 years of involvement with the school.
The family would like to thank the staff at Stillwater Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing Home (formerly Cortland Place) for the care they provided our mother over the past several years.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, March 5th at St. Teresa Church, 358 Newport Ave. Pawtucket. The burial will follow at Mount St. Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, March 4th, from 3:00-7:00 PM in the Manning-Heffern-O'Neill Funeral Home, 220 Cottage St. Pawtucket.
