Edward R. McCormick Jr., 86, of Cumberland and formerly of Pawtucket and St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2023. He was the beloved husband for 62 years of the late Dawn (Michaud) McCormick. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Edward and Mary (Roy) McCormick.
Ed was proud to serve his country and was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. He had worked for the State of Rhode Island as an Actuary for the state retirement board for many years before retiring. In his spare time, Ed was an active member in the community, he volunteered his time serving on the Pawtucket water supply board, coached in Pineview Little League and coached CYO basketball for many years, teaching young athletes the love of the game. One of his favorite pastimes was playing golf with his wife, Dawn, where she often would beat him and he responded saying "you're shooting from the reds." Ed was an avid New England sports fan, he loved watching the Patriots and even followed Tom Brady to Tampa Bay. He also rooted for the Red Sox religiously, no matter their record.
He is survived by his children, Edward R. McCormick III and his wife Christine, and Patrick D. McCormick and his wife Amy, and former daughter-in-law Kimberly McCormick, all of Cumberland, RI. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Alexandria, Kassidy, Kenzie, Ryan, and Casey McCormick, Emily and Quinn McSweeney, and Elizabeth Werner. He was the proud great-grandfather of Logan Pistorio, Zachary White, and the late Tyler and Lucas White.
