Edward Ralph Foos “Eddie Loos Foos”, of Charlestown and formerly of Pawtucket, passed into eternal life on April 3, 2026. Eddie was born in Pawtucket, the son of the late Ralph Foos and Mary Perkins.
He dedicated many years as a music Activities Leader at Eleanor Slater Hospital, Zambarano Hospital, and music and art therapy at the Institute of Mental Health in Cranston. Edward later retired from the YMCA, where he served as a van driver and activity leader, including time spent working in their specialty fishing camp.
Throughout his life, Edward embraced a wide range of roles. He worked as a musician, school bus driver, Kirby salesman, ice cream truck driver, and activity leader in group homes. He also gave his time delivering for Meals on Wheels and worked as a tour guide on the Southland Tour Boat in Narragansett.
Eddie grew up in Pawtucket, spending his summers at the family cottage in East Matunuck, Rhode Island, and in Rochester, New York with his father and siblings.
He had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, and hiking. Above all, he cherished the beach—spending countless summer days at East Matunuck State Beach at Chair #8 in “Flipperville,” as well as at the Charlestown Breachway.
On Saturdays he would join his talented musician friends for jam sessions at Java Madness in Wakefield, RI.
Eddie was an artist and an exceptionally talented singer and musician. He played guitar, bass, drums, bongos, washboard, and even the kazoo—truly anything that could make music, he could play.
Eddie was a lifelong performer starring in bands, including The Loos Foos Show, Loos Foos and Leonardo, and the infamous Loos Foos and the Fiberglass Cornflake, which recorded a 45 featuring two songs in 1969.
Eddie’s greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends as well as making new friends everywhere he went. He was one of the kindest, most authentic, and charismatic individuals anyone could meet. He touched countless lives and left a lasting impression that will live on forever.
“Loos Foos” was, and always will be, a true legend.
He is survived by his son Edward Foos II “Ted”, his daughter Robin Bowron and her fiancé Jason LaScola. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brandon Barry and Aiden Bowron as well as his siblings, David Foos and his wife Juls and Anne Foos and her husband Kevin.
There will be a funeral service for Edward on Friday, April 10th at 1:00 pm in the Manning-Heffern-O'Neill Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket. His calling hours will be on Friday from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm prior to the service. His burial will follow the service in Mt. St. Mary's Cemetery, Pawtucket.
