Obituary

Edward F. Dunphy Sr., 83, of Pawtucket, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, Thursday, January 18, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Suzanne (Menard) Dunphy. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Michael and Matilda (Guckian) Dunphy and the brother of Maureen Kanabe of Centralia, IL and Sheila Bento of Litchfield, NH. Edward was an army veteran. He had worked in the telephone industry for many years before retiring.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Michael Dunphy and his wife Ann of Weymouth MA, Edward Dunphy Jr and his wife Beth of Seekonk MA, Kevin Dunphy of Pawtucket, Kelly Whitfield and her husband Todd of N. Providence. He also leaves eight grandchildren, Samantha Davis, Brennan Dunphy, Sean Dunphy, Robert Dunphy, Seth Dunphy, Jenna Dunphy, Bria Dunphy, and Averi Whitfield.

Ed loved his family, friends and spending time telling comical stories. Great family memories were made in the summers at their cottage in Matunuck RI. Nothing made him happier than watching his kids and grandchildren participating in their sporting events and dance competitions. He was their biggest fan and supporter.

He was very proud of his Irish heritage and made several trips over to Ireland to connect with family. He loved making (and drinking) wine with his longtime friends and children.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, January 23rd at 10:00 AM in Saint Teresa Church, 358 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket. Burial will follow in Mount Saint Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visiting hours will be held Monday, January 22nd from 4:00-7:00 PM in the Manning-Heffern-O'Neill Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in Edward's memory to Hope Health Hospice , 1085 North Main St., Providence RI 02904, would be greatly appreciated.
