Earlene Marie Mara, of Pawtucket, passed into eternal life on October 23, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Dr. Earl Mara and Ruth (Small) Mara.
Earlene was a graduate and proud alumna of St. Mary Academy – Bay View and continued her education with an undergraduate degree from Salve Regina College before pursuing her Masters Degree at Brown University. The friends and experiences from each of these places helped inspire her to pursue a career in education.
Earlene was a math teacher in the Cumberland school system for many years and served as the Department Chair where she helped guide young teachers and shape curriculum. One of her great joys was sharing her mathematical talents with others. She enjoyed telling stories about the wonderful students who she taught through the years and she loved to guide young inquisitive math minds.
Earlene was a lifelong resident of Pawtucket. She enjoyed sharing tales about the City of her youth and looked forward to the future. Much of her free time in retirement was spent volunteering at local nursing homes where she loved bringing comfort and joy to the residents. As a long time member of St. Teresa's Church, she enjoyed sharing her faith with friends and family.
Earlene is survived by her brother Ron Mara of Providence, her sister Ruth Mara of Charlestown, her Sister-in-Law Ellen Mara of Barrington and her nephews Brendan Mara of Foster and Patrick Mara of Washington, D.C. Earlene is pre-deceased by her sister Raelene Mara and her brother Donald Mara.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, November 9th at 10:00 AM in St. Teresa's Church, 358 Newport Ave., Pawtucket. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Riverside. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
