Obituary

Dwight "Whitey" Anderson, 61, of Pawtucket, died unexpectedly on March 4, 2023. Dwight enjoyed fishing, writing music, cooking and building guitars, which he played furiously in several local bands. He was well known for his quick wit and unmistakable laugh. In recent years, Dwight was most excited about being a grandfather to Ruby Mae and Marlee Jane, and he just loved the sound of his girls calling him "Grandpa." He leaves behind his father, William "Andy" Anderson of Pawtucket, his mother, Martha Stephens of Providence, and his children, Kyle Anderson of Bloomington, Indiana and Ronelle Moreau of Las Vegas.

Dwight lived most of his life in Pawtucket and proudly served in the Rhode Island National Guard. He was a voracious and well-rounded reader who loved history, especially of the Blackstone Valley, and it is his talent as an extraordinary welder and fabricator that makes him a part of it.  His skill was only exceeded by his artistic talent; he combined form and function to create beautiful things that work, like his #52 stock car that he raced to wins at Seekonk Speedway, or the retractable bird feeder he created for a Brown University president's wife.

Dwight will also be missed and remembered by his brothers Neil Anderson (Thompson, CT) Gregg Anderson (Pawtucket), and his sisters Dawne Anderson (Phoenix), Kristen Anderson (Austin), Erica Anderson (Chicago)  and Jennifer (Anderson) Gagnier (Lincoln) and her husband Michael Gagnier; as well as his nephews Carlo Spinale (USN), Max Brown (Loveland CO) and Zane Brown (Westerly) Joseph Vani (North Providence), his former wife Donna Moreau (Raleigh), and of course, his granddaughters, Ruby Mae and Marlee Jane Anderson.

A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends at the Italian Dramatic Italian Political Club, 35 Memorial Drive, Pawtucket, RI on Sunday, March 12 th at 1pm.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Dwight's honor, to Friends of Pawtucket Public Library , 13 Summer St., Pawtucket RI 02860, would be greatly appreciated.
