Donald J. Waddington of North Kingstown, passed away on October 21, 2024 at the age of 90. He died peacefully, surrounded by family. Born in Providence to John and Bertha (née Glennon) Waddington, Don was a devoted family man. He was the beloved husband of Jacqueline (née Khoury) Waddington, and the former husband of the late Marion (née Nydam) Waddington.
Don was the quintessential patriarch of a loving blended family, including children John Waddington and Jacqueline Waddington Alger, and step-children Carole Samaha, Mira Saggal, Joelle Lozinski, and Elias Shalhoub. Don is also survived by his sister, Janet Fusco, as well as seventeen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
An adventurous spirit, Don loved sailing, and often took his children and grandchildren out on the water. His boat--aptly named "My Way"--took them to the Azores, Bermuda, Florida, and the Virgin Islands. Don also enjoyed train travel, and looked forward to regular trips to Boston with family each year. Don loved to cook and was often teaching others his recipies in the kitchen. He could be seen clamming on the coast, then entertaining with his delicious finds.
Don was likewise successful in his professional life, founding Waddington Electronics in 1956. Initially focused on machinery and industrial wiring, the company expanded exponentially over more than fifty years. It was sold in 2018 to Pressroom Equipment, and Don's work lives on in his product line, which is still produced and distributed nationwide.
In life, Donald Waddington did things "his way"--with generosity, commitment, and endless love for family.
