Obituary

Diana Isabelle Richardson
May 9, 1983 – November 22, 2024

Diana Isabelle Richardson, 41, of Rumford, RI, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2024, at 3:04 p.m., surrounded by her loved ones. Diana was the beloved wife of Kirsten Richardson (Mello), whom she married on October 10, 2020. She was a devoted mother to their newborn son, Malachi Rae McNeil Richardson, born just days earlier, on November 18, 2024.

Born in Paget, Bermuda, Diana was the cherished daughter of Judith Richardson (Sinotte) and the late Donald McNeil Richardson of Bermuda, and stepdaughter of Philip Taylor, also of Bermuda. She was the daughter-in-law of Raymond and Laurie Mello (Guerrettaz) of Somerset, MA. Diana is also survived by her sister Danielle Richardson of Providence, RI; stepsister Katie DeCouto (Taylor) and her husband Jesse DeCouto of Bermuda; stepbrother Kit Taylor and his wife Lindsey Taylor (Allan) of Scotland; brother-in-law Alexander Mello and his wife Jennifer Mello (Furtado) of Somerset, MA; and sister-in-law Mary Jane Miranda (Mello) and her husband Adam Miranda of Somerset, MA. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, devoted friends and co-workers.

Diana's early education took place at Port Royal Elementary School in Bermuda and the Bermuda High School for Girls. She graduated from Brown University with a degree in Africana Studies  and a minor in Art History in 2005.  She spent more than 15 years at Brown in a variety of roles, beginning as an operations and event coordinator and later serving as the university scheduler. In 2019 Diana joined the division of advancement, first as a program manager in Regional Engagement on the Alumni Relations Team before transitioning into as the Assistant Director of BioMed Engagement.

Diana will be remembered for her boundless love, selflessness, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends. Her joy for life was contagious, and her radiant smile lit up every room she entered. She shared an unbreakable bond with Kirsten, and together they created countless beautiful memories, including attending over 15 concerts this past summer while Diana was pregnant with Malachi.

A multi-talented artist, Diana was an extraordinary writer, photographer, and visual artist. She was passionate about storytelling and was working on a novel at the time of her passing. Diana also wrote a pilot for a television series, showcasing her incredible creativity and unique voice. Her photography and artwork reflected her profound sensitivity and perspective, capturing the beauty and complexity of the world around her.

A lover of music, travel, and her family, Diana found joy in visiting her loved ones in Bermuda, spending time at her in-laws' home, playing with her nieces and nephews, and traveling the world. In her downtime, you could either find Diana curled up on the couch with Kirsten watching an episode of Friends for the umpteenth time or joking and laughing with friends while enjoying the warmth of their backyard fire pit.

Diana's deep compassion and kindness made her the voice of reason in any situation. She saw the good in everyone and brought light to the lives of those around her. Her circle of friends was filled with people who appreciated her unwavering loyalty and love, a testament to her caring and sensitive nature.

Her beloved dogs, the late Paxil and her current Sir Hamilton Burger King Richardson, were a source of joy and laughter. Diana's memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her, a bright and loving spirit who touched countless lives.

She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, creativity, and light will continue to inspire us all.
