Debra “Debbie” Lynn McCormick, 56, of Greene, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 28, 2026, surrounded by family after a courageous 20 year health battle. A devoted wife, mother and grama, Debbie lived for her family and filled every room she entered with warmth, laughter and a genuine smile.

Debbie is survived by her devoted husband of 32 years, Michael McCormick, along with her children, Amanda Morin and husband Michael, and Sarah McCormick and wife Kimberly. She also leaves her granddaughter, Sophia Betty and her cuddle pup, Nolah. She is predeceased by her parents, Melvin and Patricia (Chevalier) Pero, as well as her beloved pups, Spanky and Mr. Wiggles.

A true life-of-the-party, Debbie was known for her quick wit, bright laugh and the way she made everyone feel welcome. She never came to a gathering without a story to tell and a hug to give. Wednesdays were sacred, playing rummy and laughing with her best friend, Debbie Smith, and she treasured all of her afternoons canning and making chocolates with Sherri Andrukiewicz.

Debbie’s creativity and hands-on spirit manifest in everything she did. An avid and passionate gardener, she could often be found in her yard with dirt under her nails, nurturing perennials and annuals into brilliant bloom, and creating secret spots where hummingbirds and cardinals gathered. Her garden was her sanctuary and a living bounty to neighbors and family.

Inside, Debbie was an accomplished crafter and quilter: she sewed cozy quilts full of color and memory, pieced together intricate patterns for friends and family, and transformed ordinary materials into keepsakes. She loved teaching others, a patient guide at the sewing machine, a ready mentor and motivator of new projects. Her home was filled with handmade treasures that carried her warmth, along with a lifetime of memories that were pictured on the walls.

The family is forever grateful to her doctors, nurses, and Continuum Care Hospice for their exceptional care and support throughout Debbie’s health journey.

Family and friends are kindly invited to visiting hours Thursday, April 9th, 2026 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at O’Neill Funeral Home, 3102 Mendon Road, Cumberland, Rhode Island. The funeral and burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Autoimmune Association, in Debbie’s memory.
