In Loving Memory of David Wayne Smith

On June 30, 2026, the world became a little quieter—but Heaven undoubtedly got a whole lot louder—as David Wayne Smith passed away at the age of 64. Born on April 1, 1962 (yes, April Fool's Day, and he certainly lived up to the spirit of it), David spent his life doing what came most naturally to him: making people laugh, lifting spirits, and making everyone around him feel like family. He never met a stranger for long. Within minutes, you'd be smiling, laughing, or hearing one of his stories, and somehow leaving in a better mood than when you arrived.

David called Pawtucket, Rhode Island, home and spent many years building and operating his own cleaning business. He believed in hard work, took pride in what he did, and built lasting friendships everywhere he went. If he cleaned your home or business, chances are he also left you with a joke, a story, or a reason to smile.

He is survived by his longtime friend, Brittany Brucker; his loving children, Pennylee Cassidy, Krystalann Carrier, Derek Carrier, and Mackenzie Brucker; his cherished grandchildren, Ophelia Cassidy, Morgan Carrier, and Gabriel Carrier; and his brother, Michael Smith.

David's greatest gift wasn't something he could buy or build, it was the way he made people feel. He welcomed everyone with open arms, found humor in life's ups and downs, and had an optimism that was contagious. He reminded us that even on difficult days, there was always something worth smiling about.

While our hearts are heavy with his absence, we know he wouldn't want us sitting around crying forever. He'd probably tell us to share a funny story, have a good laugh, and remember the good times. That's exactly how he'd want to be remembered.

Though his memorial service will be private, David's legacy lives on in every laugh he inspired, every life he touched, and every memory that brings a smile through tears. His love, kindness, humor, and unmistakable spirit will remain with all who knew him.

Rest easy, Dad. Thank you for the laughter, the love, and the reminder that life is meant to be lived with a smile.
