Cynthia M. Shalvoy

Cynthia M. Shalvoy, 95, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 2, 2026 with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Walter Shalvoy Sr. for 70 years. Born in Bronx, NY, she was the daughter of the late Ralph DeMattia (Palmina). 

Cynthia was the devoted mother of Walter Shalvoy Jr. (Eileen), Robert Shalvoy M.D. (Pamela), and Peter Shalvoy (Lucy). Cherished grandma to Bryan, Keith, Matthew, Michela, Jessica, and 4 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Josephine Pezzullo, Sabino DeMattia, and Angela Pritchard. 

Cynthia took great pride in her home, cooking, and family. Her special talents were highlighted when family gathered for holidays, special occasions, and Sunday dinners. 

Cynthia and Walter travelled extensively in their retirement years. 

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, July 13th at 11:00 AM in Saint Joan of Arc Church, 3357 Mendon Road, Cumberland. Burial will follow at Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, July 12th from 3:00 - 5:00 PM at the O'Neill Funeral Home, 3102 Mendon Road, Cumberland.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Cynthia's memory to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Covenant House New York.
