Obituary

Our beloved mother Catherine (Cathy) T. Rahill, 61, of North Providence, passed away on Saturday, August 31st, 2024. Born on July 3rd, 1963, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, she was the cherished daughter of the late Robert and Elaine Rahill.

Cathy graduated from St. Raphael Academy in 1981, where she shone not only as a standout basketball player but also as co-captain of the team. That year they won the state championship. Her time at Saint Raphael Academy was marked by the lifelong friendships she cherished deeply.

Cathy pursued her education at the University of Rhode Island, earning both her undergraduate and master's degrees. She devoted her entire career to Baldwin Elementary School in Pawtucket, R.I., where she was a source of inspiration to her students, never giving up on them despite any challenges they faced. Her dedication left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Known for her quick wit and infectious sense of humor, Cathy was the life of every gathering. Her love for laughter, her role as the "Wizard" in family jokes, and her vibrant personality ensured there was never a dull moment when she was around. A passionate Patriots fan, she made every Sunday a football celebration and never missed a game.

Cathy also enjoyed dancing, going to the gym, and running long distances, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and friends.

Cathy is survived by her four children: Hershel, Danisha, Markia, and Elaina, and her eight grandchildren: Hershel Jr., Harmony, Izaiah, Khari, Nala, Hope, Harleigh, and Nasir. She is also remembered by her brothers, Robert and Thomas Rahill; her sister, Mary Tomlinson; her aunt, Madeline Lungren; along with nieces, a nephew, and several cousins. Cathy leaves behind her partner, Michelle, and her two beloved dogs, Rockie and Koda.

While these words can only offer a glimpse into her remarkable life, they reflect the love and joy she brought to those around her.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, September 10th, from 4 to 6 PM at the Manning-Heffern-O'Neill Funeral Home, located at 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket. The funeral and burial will be private.
