Obituary

Carol A. McMahon of Pawtucket, Rhode Island passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, May 4, 2023. Carol was the beloved daughter of the late Gertrude (Rowan) McMahon. Born November 29, 1938, in Central Falls, she was a resident of Pawtucket for over 50 years.

Carol was a graduate of Central Falls High School, where she enjoyed attending dances and formed lasting friendships. She then went on to attend business school and began her career in the secretarial field until her retirement from Rolo Manufacturing in Providence in 1997.

Carol spent many years enjoying summers in Little Compton, surrounded by extended family and her faithful Airedale, Mr. Moe. She and her mom loved to sit on their porch in Little Compton late into the night talking, looking up at the night sky and listening to the sounds of the ocean. They were great companions who loved to shop and go out to eat.

In retirement, Carol found great purpose in the time she spent as a hospice volunteer. She also enjoyed lunches and outings with "the graduates," a term of endearment for her former classmates from Central Falls High School. Carol's quick-witted sense of humor was apparent to all who knew her. She always kept up with news, weather, and current events. She enjoyed reading, cooking, attending church groups, watching movies and spending time with family. Carol had an affinity for owls, a fitting symbol of her independent spirit and fortitude.

Carol was the devoted niece and caregiver of the late John "Jack" Rowan. She leaves behind many loving cousins spanning multiple generations and took great pride introducing her cousins to others at every opportunity. Her presence will be missed at the family table.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, May 9th at 11:00 AM in St. John Paul II, 755 Central Ave., Pawtucket. Burial to follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.
