Obituary

Bert William Finan, 90, of Pawtucket passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on November 21, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Janis (Lamson) Finan with whom he shared 61 years of marriage. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Agnes Siewick and John J. Finan Sr.

Bert attended High School in Pawtucket then proceeded to Our Lady of Providence Seminary in Warwick and Baltimore Seminary and finally to Providence College to eventually receive a master's degree in education. Bert was a schoolteacher at John Greene School and then Principal of Hoxie School in Warwick, Rhode Island until retirement.

Bert and his family enjoyed many summers of boating on Narragansett Bay and the waters beyond. After retirement, Bert and Jan navigated their boat named CHRISTMAS to Florida for the winter and back to New England for the summer. Bert and Jan also enjoyed their time with friends during the winter months in Bonita Springs, Florida.

Recently Bert has taken up organ playing, with the purchase of a sophisticated Lowery organ, Bert would fill the house with music that would rival a symphony orchestra.

He is survived by his children, Shawn P. Finan and his wife Heather, and Tracie Deaett and her husband Ronald. He also leaves his brother John J. Finan Jr. and his wife Anita. Bert is also survived by his grandchild Kaylee Vieira. He was the brother of the late Agnes Cambell and Alice Lycan.
