Barbara J. Nieves (PINA), 87, of Pawtucket, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 7, 2021. She was the wife of the late Santos Nieves. Born in Scituate, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late John and Laurel Pina.

She is survived by her children, Sandra Pina, Annette Sloan, Francisco Pina, Laura Bennett, Santos Pina, Lisa Pina, Edward Pina, and Ernestine Pina. She also leaves 14 brothers and sisters, 25 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Todd Pina.

Barbara loved to cook for her very large family. Anyone who came through her door was offered a meal.  No one left Barbara's house hungry.  She loved flowers and anything planted in her backyard on Margaret Street.  She was very proud of her yard, spending countless hours grooming it to perfection.  You could often find her out there drinking coffee on a warm summer day with friends and family.  Barbara had a generous heart and you never had to wonder what she was thinking, she would tell you like it is.  She raised many children during her long life, whether they be her own, related to her, or just someone who needed help.  Barbara was the life of the party, she loved to dance no matter what the occasion, and her big personality will be sorely missed.

Due to current circumstances, Barbara's Mass of Christian Burial will be video live streamed and available to view right from Barbara's obituary page on the Costigan-O'Neill Funeral Home website on Friday, February 12 ^th at 11 AM. The burial will be private.
