Barbara Marie Hammerschmidt, 93, of Attleboro passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 7, 2026. She was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth Hammerschmidt.

Born in Greenpoint, NY, Barbara was the daughter of the late Edward and Myrtle (Burrill) Knoob. She was a dedicated, long-time member of the choir at the First Baptist Church in Attleboro and was deeply involved in her community's Bible study. An avid reader who enjoyed the challenge of Sudoku, she also found great joy in square dancing with her husband. Above all, Barbara's greatest love was her family.

Barbara is survived by her children Linda Shaw and her husband John, and Brenda Reid. She leaves behind her grandchildren Brian Bishop, Derek Bishop, Nicole Lipinsky, Joseph Nolin Jr., and Braden Reid. Barbara is also survived by her great grandchildren Emma Bishop, Katie Bishop, Claire Bishop, Grayson Bishop, Sebastian Lipinsky, Joseph Nolin III, and Jameson Nolin. Barbara leaves behind her sister Patricia MacFarlane. Barbara was the mother of the late Kurt Hammerschmidt and sister to the late Frances Ann Smalley.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Funeral Service on Monday, February 16, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church, 118 South Main Street, Attleboro, MA. Burial will be private. Visitation will take place on Sunday, February 15, 2026, from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM in the Manning-Heffern-O'Neill Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket, RI.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barbara's memory to Hope Health Hospice Care.
