Barbara M. Allen, 79, of North Smithfield and formerly of Cumberland, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, Tuesday, February 21, 2023. She was the beloved wife of Robert "Pete" Allen. They were happily married for 60 years. Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late William and Lorenza (Rivard) Burlingame. Affectionally known as "Bobbie" by her family and friends, Bobbie was an Optician and owner of Barbara Allen Fashion Eyewear in Woonsocket from 1978 until retiring in 2002. She was very proud of her business and could be found driving around town in her Maxima with the license plate IWEAR. As a child, Bobbie summered with her family at Horseneck Beach in Westport Massachusetts. That was tradition that she continued with her husband Pete, their children, and grandchildren too. She loved to refer to her family as "beach bums". She had the time of her life with many precious friends along the beach. She also enjoyed skiing, quilting, reading, and relishing the simple pleasures of life.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her children, Leslie Allen, and Kim Newbury and her husband, Ian; her brother Bruce Burlingame and his wife Sandra, and her sister, Leslie Lemanski and her husband Richard. She also leaves her grandchildren, Lydia Newbury, Thomas "TJ" Choquette Jr., and Victoria Choquette.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Funeral Service on Saturday, February 25th at 1:00 PM in the O'Neill Funeral Home, 3102 Mendon Road, Cumberland. Visiting hours will be held from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, prior to the Service in the O'Neill Funeral Home.

A private burial at RI Veteran's Cemetery, Exeter will be held at a later date.
