Avis D. Hallam, 83, of Lincoln, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 23, 2023 with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Cecil Hallam. Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late James and Alice (Calvert) Broadbent. Avis was a longtime secretary at Bryant University.
Known to many as "Meme", she was always her family's biggest supporter at cheerleading competitions, ballets, horse shows, and band concerts. She also enjoyed traveling with her family, visiting many islands on cruises and enjoying the scenery of Vermont. Meme also cherished her morning coffee and donut trips with her husband. In her later years, she enjoyed spending time playing with her great grandchildren. She could never get enough of her favorite snack, Golden Oreos.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her children, Laurie Wagner and David Hallam, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to visiting hours on Wednesday, January 3rd from 4:00-7:00 PM in the O'Neill Funeral Home, 3102 Mendon Road, Cumberland. The funeral and burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Alzheimer's Association of RI, 245 Waterman St., #306, Providence RI 02906, in Avis' memory, would be greatly appreciated.
