Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anthony M. Zainyeh in his home at the age of 92, on Sunday, November 24, 2024. Born in Pawtucket, Anthony was the cherished son of the late George and Kanom (Asermely) Zainyeh, loving husband to the late Corinne (Schiano) Zainyeh, and devoted father to his two children, George and Diane Zainyeh. Anthony and Corinne enjoyed 47 wonderful years together in their home in Warwick, where they raised their family. Tony's life was defined by dedication, service and love, and his absence leaves a deep void in the hearts of those who knew him.

Anthony was a graduate of Pawtucket East High School and Bryant College. He was a history buff always ready to teach you an obscure fact and he never missed a good cowboy show or sporting event. Tony was a frequent Warwick Mall walker and was also known to be seen at Foxwoods or Mohegan. For 42 years, he worked for the Rhode Island Division of Taxation, where he served as the state's auditor at Narragansett/Lincoln Downs race tracks and Newport Jai Alai. He completed his career in Taxation as a senior revenue officer in the Enforcement Unit. Anthony was known for his leadership, integrity and strength of character. During his tenure in state service, he was repeatedly elected President of Council 94 Local 2448 by his colleagues. Tony was also the proprietor of Salvatore's Lounge in West Greenwich.

Anthony is survived by his son George Zainyeh and his wife Ann Marcoccio Zainyeh of Jamestown, his daughter Diane Zainyeh of North Providence, and three grandchildren, Serena Barton Zainyeh, Anthony Zainyeh and Isabella Zainyeh. He is preceded in joining the Lord by his Father and Mother, brothers Michael and Charles, and sisters Rose, Mary and Annie.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Liturgy of Christian Burial Monday, at 11:00 AM on December 2, 2024 at St. Basil the Great Church, Skyview Drive, Lincoln. Visiting hours are 9:00 - 11:00 AM, prior to the liturgy. Burial will be private.
