Obituary

Anne Louise McGill, 83, of Lincoln and formerly of Pawtucket, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, on Wednesday, October 26, 2016. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas A. McGill. They were happily married for 45 years. Born in Pawtucket, Anne was the daughter of the late Edward and Margaret (Rigby) Treacy. She met her husband in Pawtucket where they raised their seven children. As a mother, she also attended undergraduate and graduate school. Anne graduated from Providence College in 1976 with a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature and from the University of Rhode Island with a Master's Degree in Library Science in 1980. She worked as a librarian for many years at Rhode Island School of Design and Johnson & Wales University. She also volunteered as a catechist at several parishes and enjoyed many book clubs and classes at The Hamilton House. Anne shared her love of art history, literature, and history with fellow residents at several retirement homes. She is survived by her children, Mary Anne McGill of San Francisco, California and her husband, Joshua Sondheimer, Paula Andersen of Blue Bell, Pennsylvania and her husband, Andrew, Frank McGill of East Providence, RI, Ellen Murphy of Cumberland, RI and her husband, Gregory, Regina Crone of Raleigh, North Carolina and her husband, Robert, Thomas P. McGill of Woodstock, Georgia and his wife, Julie, and Stephen McGill of North Providence, RI and his wife Nelia, her sister, Rose and her husband, Bob Maclure, her 17 grandchildren Aidan, Andrew, Ben, Brittany, Casey, Dylan, Emily, Kailee, Lindsey, Gretchen, Isabella, Madeline, Margaret, Matthew, Palmer, Peyton, Riley, and one great-grandchild Caleb, and many nieces and nephews. Her husband, Thomas A. McGill predeceased her in 2003. The Funeral will be held on Monday, October 31st, 2016 at 9AM from the O'Neill Funeral Home, 3102 Mendon Road, Cumberland, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in Saint John Vianney Church, 3609 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Burial will be in Mount Saint Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2016 from 2 to 5PM.
