Ann K. Toole, 94, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island, Ann was the daughter of the late Austin A. and Mary M. (Horan) Toole. She grew up in Pawtucket, where she attended St. Joseph School and later graduated from St. Xavier Academy in Providence. Ann earned her teaching degree from Rhode Island College and went on to dedicate over 36 years of her life to educating children at Potter-Burns Elementary School in Pawtucket. A devoted and passionate teacher, she took great joy in reconnecting with former students and learning about their lives.
Ann was a beloved aunt to Susan O'Halloran (Tim), Mary Ellen Wians (Stuart), Elizabeth Larcom (Charles), Carolyn Bancroft (Glenn), and Stephen Toole. She was also cherished by 16 great-nieces and nephews and 8 great-great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her nephew Austin Toole, Jr. (Kim), her brothers Austin A. Toole and Rev. Lawrence E. Toole, and her sister Helen "Gerry" Toole.
Ann had a vibrant spirit and a love for adventure. She spent many joyful summers on Cape Cod—first working as a waitress during her time off from teaching, and later enjoying beach walks, ocean swims, and sunsets with friends and family. She was an avid traveler and especially treasured her trips to Ireland, Italy, Germany, Alaska and Bermuda, often accompanied by her sister Gerry and close friends. Ann's deep Catholic faith was a guiding light throughout her life. For 27 years, she lovingly served as a volunteer Eucharistic Minister at Memorial Hospital, bringing comfort and spiritual care to countless patients.
Throughout her life, Ann cultivated deep and lasting friendships that brought her much happiness. In her later years, her caregivers became a source of comfort, laughter, and companionship. She will be remembered for her warmth, her sharp wit and intelligence, and her genuine appreciation for life's big and small moments.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to calling hours on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Manning-Heffern-O'Neill Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 23rd, at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Church, 195 Walcott Street, Pawtucket. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ann's memory to the Jeanne Jugan Residence, Little Sisters of the Poor , 964 Main St., Pawtucket, RI 02860.
